A while back i made a post about lesbians needing our own version of bear culture bc im tired of wlw spaces treating fat and hairy ppl as second rate when were hot af- After a lot of positive reblogs, tags, and comments this is for y’all’s consideration! A flag for any and all bear lesbians out there 💕

Just some background info: a bear is traditionally a larger (usually fat) hairy gay man who embraces and celebrates the fact they resemble a bear! for lesbian spaces where stigma around both those traits is still a big issue- this could still be the same thing for us 💕 Embracing body hair, fatness, and the ruggedness that comes with it.

Bear dykes/bear lesbians could be butch/femme/unaligned/nonbinary/on testosterone/on estrogen, or anything else. Being a bear is a celebration of a stigmatized body type and body hair- not a commitment to masculinity.

Possible nicknames: teddy bears, bear dykes, ursa/ursulas, butch bear, femme bear (feel free to add more)

the butch lesbian community has always been extremely diverse. the butch umbrella in general is extremely complex, but whenever people attempt to distill butch lesbians down into "women who wear men's clothes" it shows how little they really know about the community. the butch lesbian community is full of women who are confident in their womanhood and don't struggle, but it's also chock full of people who have some of the most complex genders you'll ever come across. butches have such varied life experiences that lead us to have a complex relationship with gender and sexuality

the butch lesbian community has always been full of genderqueer, gender non conforming, multigender, genderfluid, two-spirit, and non binary people. it's always been full of intersex people. it's always been full of people who don't identify as women, as well as people whose masculinity is inherently tied to their womanhood. it's always been full of people who identify as men, but in a distinctly lesbian and sapphic way. it's always been full of trans men and mascs. it's always been full of trans women and transfemme butches. it's always been full of people who identify as something other than a woman while still being a lesbian. it's always been full of bisexual butches. it's always been full of asexual butches.

the butch community is as varied as any other community and attempting to force butches into a narrow box is the terf shit and inaccurate to queer history. let the genderfucked butches speak. let the genderqueer butches speak. let the trans male butches speak. let the trans femme butches speak. let the intersex butches speak. let the bisexual butches speak.

you'd think about a butch making lemonade for a femme but let me present you my vision: a femme cutting and draining the lemon, swinging softly as she's so excited to make lemonade for their butch, who has never tried it.

the butch lover is a little insecure about trying new foods. their femme sits besides them and softly caresses his knee, reassuringly. it's not a big deal if the butch doesn't like lemonade, the femme will drink it for them.

after some moments, the butch is ready to try it and sips slowly. he does a funny face and their femme giggles and caresses his cheek.

the butch apologises for not liking lemonade but his femme reassures them. "i knew you probably wouldn't like it, my love. it's okay, im still really proud of you for trying. i loved making it for you. please don't think you ruined anything, sweetheart".

then they continue caressing and reassuring each other, with occasional pauses for the femme to sip lemonade and the butch to joke about how terrible lemonade is and how he doesn't understand how their femme could possibly like it, only to receive the vision of her smiling rolling their eyes or shaking their head.
